Event Overview

Pretend With Us for Real Change

The Let's Pretend Ball is Grand Street's most time-honored tradition raising vital funds for programs and services across our organization. Your contribution will help foster connections in our community centers, create new opportunities for young learners, and provide vital support to children and families in the neighborhoods we serve.

Your “ticket” is 100% tax-deductible and supports our vital services.

The History

The Let's Pretend Ball started during World War 2 when Americans were rationing to provide support for soldiers overseas. Rather than throwing a fancy gala, Grand Street "pretends" to have a ball so that 100% of donations go straight to our programs.

The Impact

6,300 youth, soon to be 1,400 preschoolers, hundreds of older adults, totaling over 17,500 New Yorkers have support thanks to your contributions to our mission.

The Ball

The Let's Pretend Ball is all made up, but the positive impact is very real! Rather than spending your time getting dressed up for a fancy event, you can make a donation from the comfort of your couch without leaving your pajamas!
